What we’re working on now…

Daycares

Right now, JohnQ through JQ Built Inc. is finalizing the construction of 22 daycares in partnership with 20 municipal and Indigenous partners, providing new spaces for 1,700 children. In collaboration with Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) at the Province of Manitoba, with local planners, CAO’s and public works officials these facilities have been planned, designed and delivered to the highest standards, on time and on budget. This initiative addressed a critical need identified by the Provincial and Federal Governments.

In 2024 the Province of Manitoba along with JohnQ were recognized and awarded the Project Management Institute of Manitoba – Project of the Year Award, a great honour for all JohnQ Public’s Shareholders, Directors, partners and administration.

What’s on the Horizon

Expansion of Child Care Spaces Request for Proposal (RFP)

JQ Built is submitting a proposal for the Government of Manitoba’s Expansion of School Based Child Care Spaces in Manitoba RFP. The project enables public school divisions to develop or expand child care programming in schools or on school grounds with a goal of creating more than 2,600 new infant and preschool spaces, and 555 school age spaces over the next two years in collaboration with public school divisions on surplus land or in surplus building space. The JQ Built Project Delivery Team, including the Process Management Team, the Construction Management Team and the Design-Build Team, worked hard to craft a comprehensive proposal that aligns with the province’s vision and goals. JQ Built is very excited about collaborating and the possibility of bringing our expertise to this project. We hope to find out very soon if the JQ Built team will be successful in supporting the creation or more critical child care spots across the Province of Manitoba!

Senior’s Housing

We are always open to new ideas and approaches in support of Manitoba communities. The projects we take on are at the request of our partner municipalities, because they fill an identified gap that cannot be met by private business.

This initiative draws inspiration from the success of JQBuilt’s ‘Daycare-in-a-Box’ delivery model. Using a collaborative team-based approach, the project aims to develop and deliver cost-effective one-and two-bedroom housing for seniors in communities across Manitoba. By increasing the housing supply and providing diverse options, it will enhance community character while addressing seniors’ housing needs.

Leveraging JQ Built’s innovative prefabricated construction models and innovative design principles, this initiative will expedite timelines and deliver high-quality, functional, and beautiful homes that integrate seamlessly into existing neighbourhoods.

Together, we are creating a more inclusive, secure and resilient future for Manitoba’s seniors, ensuring they have the opportunity to age in place with dignity and comfort.

Efficiencies to Save Communities Money

JQ Community Energy Lead

Together, we’re driving energy savings and reducing costs in communities large and small across Manitoba. JohnQ has partnered with Efficiency Manitoba to co-pilot and test the creation of JQ Community Energy Lead. This role will provide municipalities with the support they need to make upgrades, retrofits, or replace infrastructure to reduce energy consumption, lower costs and ensure that community facilities and buildings meet the needs of residents now and in the future.

The JQ Community Energy Lead will focus on providing the following support to communities:

  • Assisting with access to energy efficiency programs
  • Offering feedback to Efficiency Manitoba on policies and programs
  • Identifying and supporting community engagement initiatives for energy savings and emissions reduction
  • Providing administrative and project management support to ensure communities realize the benefits quickly.

Through a collaborative team approach, we believe the JQ Community Energy Lead can empower municipalities, who are at the forefront of energy savings, emissions reductions and building a sustainable future for all.
